Promoting Access to Classical Texts in Today's Day and Age
In collaboration with the Dickinson College Commentaries (DCC) and under the mentorship of Professor Christopher Francese and Dr. Lucy McInerney, Imaan worked as an intern throughout the summer of 2024 to translate, offer translation notes, and publish a completed version of Book 2. One of Imaan's goals as an aspiring Classicist is to grow the field -- she strives to promote access to learning ancient languages to younger students. The DCC is an open-access database, so all of the texts, scholarly commentaries, and vocabulary that they offer is free to use by anyone and everyone online. Imaan was delighted to work with the DCC because the organization gave her the ability to streamline the process of digitizing the Aeneid, and giving a place to Classics for the future.

Specifically, Imaan worked with the commentaries of Chase, Greenough-Kittredge, Knapp, and Storr, completing asynchronous reading and editing to collaborate with her peers and mentors on translating Book 2, and seeing which notes would be most suitable for the DCC.
Now, all of Aeneid Book 2 is available for free on Dickinson College Commentaries at this link,
